Anant Agarwal is a Staff Software Engineer and Technical Lead in Instacart’s Data Infrastructure organization, where he leads Data & AI Productivity and the development of Instacart’s AI Systems Layer. Over the past year, he has driven company-wide initiatives to enhance system efficiency, developer productivity, and data workflow reliability through deep AI integration. His work focuses on building the foundational AI capabilities on top of Instacart’s data platform, enabling teams across the company to accelerate experimentation, automate operational workflows, and unlock the next generation of AI‑powered systems at scale.

During his 5+ years at Instacart, Anant has led the design and development of mission-critical distributed platforms and orchestration systems that power millions of workflows daily across the company’s data pipelines, workflow engines, and services ecosystem. His recent efforts center on advancing Instacart’s AI‑driven data systems to support broader organizational growth and technical leverage.

Previously, as a Staff Software Engineer at VMware and one of the early engineers on VMware Cloud on AWS, Anant built high‑availability and distributed resource scheduling systems for hybrid cloud environments.
