Mercury: Production Patterns for Incremental Temporal Adoption
Abstract
Temporal's workflow engine excels at orchestrating distributed processes, but moving from basic workflows to production-grade systems requires careful consideration of testing, transactional safety, and performance. This talk distills key patterns developed while building Mercury's financial infrastructure and the open source Haskell SDK for Temporal.
About the Presenter
Ian builds high-leverage platform solutions at Mercury that solve critical engineering bottlenecks. He leads development of the Haskell OpenTelemetry ecosystem, the Haskell Temporal SDK, and several other OSS initiatives. He focuses on crafting systems that amplify engineering teams' capabilities, with an emphasis on functional programming techniques. When not coding, he's experimenting with new recipes, listening to jazz, or hanging out with his family.
