The hardest part of learning Temporal is unlearning the old way of doing things, so let’s start with a blank canvas and build from the ground up. During this session, you’ll learn to think in Temporal by watching an application come together one piece at a time. You’ll discover how to map business requirements to Temporal’s core features, preparing you for success with your own applications.
Tom Wheeler's 30-year career spans multiple industries, alternating between software engineering and technical education roles. Prior to joining Temporal four years ago, he wrote and taught training courses at Cloudera, developed aerospace engineering software at Boeing, designed and implemented a high-volume distributed data processing system for WebMD, and wrote code for some of the earliest web applications at brokerage firm A.G. Edwards. Tom enjoys learning new things and teaching them to others, leading him to present at conferences such as JavaOne, Strata, OSCON, and Strange Loop.
