Durable Agents: Long-running AI workflows in a flaky world

As AI grows more powerful, the scale of tasks and the cost when things go wrong both rise. Most AI agents remain stuck in the “chat paradigm”: synchronous, short-lived, and limited. This session explores how durable execution breaks those limits, with Pydantic AI’s Temporal integration showing what long-running, resilient agents can achieve.

Samuel Colvin is a Python and Rust developer and Founder of Pydantic Inc., backed by Sequoia to build Pydantic Logfire — developer first observability. The Pydantic library, which he created is downloaded over 280M/month and is a dependency of virtually every GenAI Python libraries including the OpenAI SDK, the Anthropic SDK, the Google Gen AI SDK, Langchain and LlamaIndex.
