Designing Resilient Platforms with Workflow Orchestration
Abstract
In this session, we will explore how to design resilient, fault-tolerant, and scalable platforms by orchestrating workflows effectively. Starting with a traditional coding approach, we will uncover its limitations in building reliable systems. We’ll then demonstrate how Kafka can address some of these challenges but still requires significant effort for orchestration and state management. Finally, we will introduce Temporal, a powerful open-source workflow orchestration platform, and show how it simplifies building durable, consistent, and high-throughput systems.
Participants will learn:
- The challenges of building reliable systems with traditional code and Kafka.
- How Temporal solves key problems like retries, failures, state persistence, and long-running workflows out-of-the-box.
- The differences between Temporal and other tools, with a focus on real-world scenarios.
- A hands-on debugging session to see Temporal in action, showcasing its simplicity and effectiveness.
By the end of this presentation, you’ll understand how Temporal can help you design systems that are not only resilient but also easier to maintain and scale.
